“I would have loved to join you but I must stay at home with nimisha,- my grand daughter. Her mom-dad have important presentations this weekend. ” Joshi Ajoba(grandpa) express his unavailability to join us to a Konkan trip.
“I am missing your special songs, let me know when can I
attend your special Mehafil?” Joshi ajoba’s sweet songs are my favorite childhood
treasure.
“I haven’t practiced singing since long time. I am so busy
with Nimisha’s school, classes, other activities that I’ve almost lost my touch”
he replied.
“Nimisha’s parents came late almost everyday. Sometime I
even prepare dinner and my son and daughter in law came so tired that they
directly go to the bed. They are so busy with their careers that many a times
we don’t even converse for weeks.” He continued.
“But I am glad that at least I stay with my children. Look
at Mr Patil! He his children are settled at America. Poor fellow is staying
alone at old age home!” Joshi Ajoba expressed his gratitude for old friend.
Few days later, I was waiting outside a guitar class to pick
my friend up. I was shocked to see Patil Ajoba coming out of the guitar class.
My shock turned into surprise when I noticed his new get up. Trendy short shirt
and shorts with latest shoes and guitar in hand, he was looking like ‘yo-grandpa!’
he threw a nice smile to and asked me “whats up dude?”
“nice to see you
after such a long time. It is even nicer to see you so happy!”I said.
“You know, my life
was totally ruined after demise of my wife. I tried to settle at US with my
children but I can’t stay away from my city, my friends! ”
“The only thing I
picked up from America is how to enjoy life after retirement. Now I stay at
old-age home where I’ve lots of good friends. We go to picnic together, attend
concerts and even attend spiritual programs together.
“How come you joined Guitar classes?” I could not hide my
surprise anymore. “Why grandpa can’t play guitar?” he threw the ball in my
court. “Its not like that but…” I had no words to express.
“Even though I can’t stay with my grandchildren, I love
them, miss them a lot!” he replied “I am a rock-star for my children. Not only
my grandchildren but even their friends love this cool grandpa!”
“I update myself with latest corporate affairs and thus,
even my son and daughter in law love talking to me. They share their problems,
even seek for my advices. “
“Yes, sometimes I miss my wife. Sometimes I feel the
distance between me and my family. Yet I am quite happy with my life today!” he
started his bike and left for special old age party with diet food!
